The controversy surrounding John Halligan’s ominous promise to ‘rain hell on the Government’ continues.
Mr. Halligan has taken a diehard attitude on the issue of his wished for second cardiac unit for Waterford Hospital. Last week, Minister for Health Simon Harris confirmed that such wish would not be granted.
But Halligan’s support for the Government always hinged on such item, and he has now vowed to make everyone’s life a misery over it.
It is understood that the whole debacle will be discussed during a Fine Gael ‘think-in’ session in Kildare today.
If Halligan does pull the plug, it will leave the already fragile alliance in a very precarious position indeed.
