The Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan has confirmed that the Government are working on new laws that will see parents, teachers and neighbours being given the names of sex offenders living in their area.
According to The Irish Mirror newspaper, under the new laws people will be informed of a recently released offenders whereabouts if the said offender is considered a clear and present danger.
Speaking to The Irish Mirror, Flanagan said the new laws will change the way convicted sex offenders are monitored following their release from prison.
He added that the new laws are currently being reviewed and is with the Parliamentary Counsel were it will be drafted in the coming weeks.
