Government to meet later this week to decide reopening of hospitality and entertainment sectors

The Government are set to meet later this week to decide the reopening of the hospitality and entertainment sectors.

Speaking to RTE’s This Week in Politics programme, the Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris confirmed that the Cabinet intend to discuss the easing of restrictions for these tricky sectors.

It is understood that a meeting will be held on Thursday to discuss the easing of restrictions before officially signing off on any decisions on Friday.

Amongst the topics to be discussed is the reopening of the hospitality sector including pubs and restaurants, the cabinet is also expected to talk about restrictions surrounding the aviation sector and the possibility of people attending large public gatherings such as concerts and sporting events.

However any potential decision is expected to be made on the advice of the National Public Health Emergency Team who are also expected to brief the cabinet on the easing of restrictions.
