It has been a great day for Irish sport as the Republic of Ireland U19 followed up Shane Lowery’s victory at The Open Championship by booking their place in the European Championship final.
Ireland booked their spot with a 2-1 victory and took second place in the group following Norway’s 1-0 defeat to France.
The Irish team who now take on Portugal on Wednesday, have Afolabi and Coffey to thank as their two goals proved enough to take second spot in the group.
However there was some bad news for the Irish team as Afolabi and Connor picked up questionable yellow cards towards the end of the match.
The two bookings the second for the pair now mean they will miss Wednesday’s semi final.
