There was great news announced for animal lovers today as Dublin City Council passed a motion that will see Circuses being unable have wild animals on land owned by the City Council.
The news comes after Rosanna Davison wrote an open letter to the City council, calling on councillors to ban the use of wild animals in circuses.
The news has been welcomed by the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) who said, “It is brilliant news and is another step forward to get support off other councils for a similar ban.”
The new ban will see circuses being unable to have any wild animals such as elephants, giraffes, hippos, tigers and other live animals, however the ban does not include the use of dogs, cats, horses.
