There was some good news late last night as it was confirmed that one of the survivors of the Berkeley balcony collapse disaster returned home to Ireland, Aoife Beary, one of seven Irish students injured in the tragedy is now understood to have returned home to her family were she will recover from her injuries.
Ms Beary from Blackrock Dublin arrived home yesterday evening with her parents Mike and Angela along with her brother and sister after being discharged from a hospital in Santa Clara, south of San Francisco.
Aoife who has been in hospital since July is the fifth survivor of the tragedy to return home in recent weeks. It is understood Ms Beary attended a Dublin hospital after arriving back in Ireland and was checked by doctors who assessed her condition after the long flight home, Ms Beary will now attend the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire over the coming to continue her rehabilitation.
Ms Beary suffered a major head injury during the fall and will undergo further treatment in the coming months, although her return home is seen as a major step in the right direction towards her recovery.
