Grenfell Tower fire: Authorities confirm that 58 people remain missing and presumed dead

The death toll as a result of the Grenfell Tower fire keeps rising. Local authorities have confirmed that 58 people remain missing, and are presumed dead, after the devastating blaze that ripped through the apartment block on Tuesday night.

Firefighters have resumed searching the charred remains inside the building, looking for further bodies. Search teams had to halt their efforts temporarily as parts of the buildings were shored up.

There has been fierce criticism of Prime Minister Theresa May on the wake of the tragedy, as her visit to the area was limited to talking to fire authorities, rather than meeting any of the affected residents.

Some scuffles broke out inside Kensington Town Hall on Friday evening as protesters stormed the building demanding answers.
