A number of European flights have been grounded this weekend due to the ongoing French air traffic controllers strike.

The stoppages which came into effect from this morning will last throughout the weekend as air traffic controllers have held an all out stoppage following a disagreement over pay.

Two of Ireland’s biggest airlines Ryanair and Aer Lingus have confirmed that a number of their flights have been cancelled due to the strike.

Ryanair at least 100 of their flights have been grounded, whilst Aer Lingus say 16 of their flights have been cancelled.

Both companies have urged those who are expected to travel this weekend to check their flight before arriving at the airport as more cancellations are expected.
