A national survey by The New York Times and Siena College indicates that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic opponent US vice president Kamala Harris are almost deadlocked as the race enters its closing weeks, reports Breaking News.

The study, which was issued on Sunday, shows that Trump is leading Harris by one percentage point, 48–47 percent. This difference is comfortably within the survey’s three-point margin of error, indicating that either candidate may win the election on November 5.

The Trump campaign had some difficulties in the weeks after Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the contest in July, but the majority of his supporters seem to be sticking with him, according to the most recent polls, reports Breaking News.

Notably, the study revealed that while respondents’ perceptions of Trump are mostly established, they feel that they need to learn more about Harris. According to the poll, 28% of probable voters felt they needed more details about the Democratic nominee, compared to 9% who felt the same way about Trump.

According to the survey, tonight’s presidential debate may be quite important, reports Breaking News.

During her ninety-minute tirade against Trump, Harris will have the chance to elaborate on her proposed measures. Given how tight the campaign is, any small advantage for any candidate would matter.

Since taking Biden’s position atop the Democratic ticket throughout the summer, Harris has been actively touring the campaign route, reports Breaking News.
