The Minister for Health Simon Harris has said that any new restrictions to combat the spread of the Coronavirus have to be introduced at the right time.
Speaking to RTÉ’s Prime Time programme, Harris said that the country can’t afford to be in denial and the reality is that we as country can’t avoid the virus.
The Health Minister who confirmed that the Government is monitoring the situation on a daily basis said it is likely that there will be a lot more cases here in the future.
He added that the closure of schools and the suspension of large public gatherings could be considered in the next few weeks.
But for now we can’t fool ourselves in thinking that this is a fortress Ireland.
