Harris says the lifting of restrictions could be sped up if numbers stay low

The lifting of restrictions could be sped up if the spread of Covid-19 remains low the Minister for Health Simon Harris has said.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Prime Time programme, the Health Minister said the phases of lifting restrictions could be brought forward if the virus is kept under control.

However the Health Minister has warned that any lifting of restrictions will be subject to national public health advice.

Harris told the programme the country shouldn’t rush to lift restrictions as a potential second wave would be damaging in terms of public health and the economy.
