Having recently purchased 700,000 vaccines from Romania, Irish government are now planning to offload excess vaccines to other countries

There was great fanfare when the Irish government announced they were buying 700,000 excess covid-19 vaccines from Romania where vaccine take-up was low.

Now, weeks after the Romania Vaccines purchase, we are told that Ireland has excess vaccines which will now be disturbed to other countries. We are not told if these vaccines, paid for by Irish taxpayers, will be sold or given away for free.

As outlined in the Irish Times, Professor Brian MacCraith, chairperson of Irelands Vaccine Taskforce said “There would be an announcement from Government shortly, outlining how excess vaccines would be diverted to other countries in the developing world”.
