“He has an absolute cheek” – People aren’t with Martin saying he’s worried his own kids may not be able to afford a home of their own as he’s on €211,000 per annum

Social media users have been outraged at the Taoiseach’s remarks that he’s allegedly worried that his own kids won’t be able to buy their own home.

Martin is on enormous wages every week. He more than likely has absolutely no financial concerns for himself or his family, yet he’s acting the every man, as if he was on €21,000 a year himself.

The Taoiseach has said that he worries about the impact of the housing crisis on his own children and their ability to buy a home.

Martin is on a massive salary of €211,000 and is far beyond the means of most people who actually have genuine worries about their kids’ ability to buy their own home.

He’s meant to be the leader of the government and he can’t even solve the basic needs of his own kids, said one social media user.

According to the Examiner, Martin was speaking to journalists during his tour of Asia. He didn’t specify his actual children by name but was asked did he worry about his own children’s ability to buy their own home, to which he replied “of course”

“I don’t want to personalise things, but I do of course. The price of houses is shockingly high for young couples. That’s why we’re bringing in new affordable schemes. I just saw the ones in Boherboy in Cork which are a very, very keen price. We just have to do it on a far greater scale.”

“And I worry about younger people general, the capacity to live in cities that they’re born in is becoming less and less of a possibility. That’s not just an Irish phenomenon. It’s a global phenomenon.

“We need more supply. So we need to make sure that we have a consistent level of supply over the next 10 years.”
