Government now getting desperate to house Ukrainians as students will need their accommodation back next month

The government are beginning to panic. They’ve promised to take in as many Ukrainians as want to come into the country, but basically we’ve nowhere to put these people.

Let’s face facts, the government are chasing their tails in relation to the amount of Ukrainians coming into the country.

The Department of Sport confirmed today that it had contacted sports federations to see if sports facilities were available to accommodate short-term Ukrainian refugees.

The government is under increasing pressure as around 3,500 Ukrainians living in student residences will have to move in the coming weeks as students return to university.

The government expects the additional hotel rooms to come online in September and October when the tourist season ends.

It’s understood that both Croke Park and the Aviva Stadium have now been contacted to house Ukrainians.

Meanwhile, there doesn’t seem to be the same effort being made for the 10,500 Irish who are now homeless to the month of June in the country.
