If you’ve a phobia of hornets, you better not travel to the United States when the airports finally reopen as health authorities in the United States are warning of an emerging new threat in the form of giant hornets whose sting can kill a human.

The hornets, which are native to Asia, were first spotted in December 2019, but are now becoming more active as temperatures rise.

The savage insects, measuring almost two inches long, raid beehives, rip off the heads of the bees and devour bee larvae and pupae. The hornets are fiercely territorial and will swarm any human who comes in the proximity of their colony. Their stinger injects a powerful neurotoxic venom that can kill a person in a matter of hours, if stung several times.
