The Minister for Health Simon Harris has said that he instinctively agrees that unvaccinated children should be banned from Irish schools and creches.
In a response to a query on twitter by Dr Dominic Rowley, a consultant at Portlaoise Midlands Regional Hospital, Minister Harris said that further research is needed and that there may be constitutional issues surrounding the issue.
It is believed the Health Minister made the comments after Dr Rowely called on Harris to introduce such a ban, stating that vaccines weren’t made for a bit of craic, but instead it wss a relatively simple life saving concept.
Dr Rowely added that it was bonkers that children weren’t allowed to enter certain school’s because of their religious backgrounds, but yet they are allowed to enter even though they are unvaccinated.
Vaccines weren’t invented for a bit of craic . @SimonHarrisTD . Take a bold step and #banhealthyunvaccinatedkids from crèche/ https://t.co/0aEJgzKI1S’s a really simple life saving concept. We should be protecting those kids who cannot receive #vaccines
