The Minister for Health Simon Harris has said that he will apologise to the Dáil over his handling of information in regards to the National Children’s Hospital overspend.

Speaking to RTÉ’s This Week programme, a spokesperson for the Health Minister said that although Minister Harris couldn’t provide accurate information to the Dáil over the figures, he has said he wished had provided information in regards to pricing for phase B.

Minister Harris’s spokesperson added that Minister Harris will be happy to apologise to Parliament.

Minister Harris’s apology will come after he came in for increased scrutiny from opposition parties who questioned his handling of the situation.

The fiasco has also led to the Fianna Fáil leader Mícheál Martin to call on Minister Harris to offer an apology to the Dáil, whilst Sinn Féin have called for the Minister to be removed from his position.
