Heartbreaking: Mum’s “sacred space” desecrated by KBC bank thugs in Roscommon eviction

The house at the centre of the KBC bank eviction in Roscommon this week had a secret, a very precious and meaningful secret, a secret which desecrated by KBC bank thugs allegedly hired on the back streets of loyalist East Belfast.

Local activist Anna Kavanagh said that the house itself was constructed as was often the case in rural Ireland in front of an earlier dwelling by the mother of the three elderly siblings who currently reside there.

This matriarchal lady passed away in 2015 and dearly loved in the community and in particular by her loyal daughter who cared so deeply for her in her last years.

Anna Kavanagh said that on the night of her funeral as is sometimes done in rural Ireland as part of the grieving process the room in which someone dies is left exactly as it was when they took their final breath and the door is locked often for years and in some rare and very sad cases for a lifetime.

The gentle and very meaningful gesture was torn asunder last week and this sacred space was ransacked along with the rest of the house as if nothing had ever happened in that room.
