Neil Shanahan, the Limerick toddler who miraculously survived at five-storey fall at a hotel five weeks ago, has affectionally been branded ‘the flying boy.’
Neil fell from a balcony at the Strand Hotel in Limerick on July 2 last. He spent nearly three days in a criticial condition after the fall, but the little one found the strength to survive. He is now expected to make a full recovery.
An American nurse who just happened to be at the hotel that day saw the toddler land on the ground outside, and rushed to give him first aid until an ambulance arrived. His family have credited her with saving the child’s life by administering resuscitation techniques until paramedics took Neil into hospital.
