Soufiane Mountassir (38) a Moroccan who had been living in Dublin for less than five months when stands accused of attacking a woman leaving her “covered in blood” in Dublin after forcing her into the boot of a car the Sunday World has reported.

Mountassir came to Dublin in June has been charged with assault causing harm and false imprisonment on November 13 in the Dublin 7 area on the city and has also been refused bail by Judge Cephas Power at Cloverhill District Court after objections by Garda Conall Walsh.

The Moroccan, with an address at Dublin’s Mount Joy Square “integrated himself” into his alleged victim’s home within a week of meeting her, Judge Power noted in his hearing.

The Sunday World reported that it was alleged that a witnesses saw a man pick up and force the woman into the boot of a car who appeared “lifeless” and was “punched a number of times” when she was later put into the front passenger seat.

The bail hearing was told the woman was “covered in blood” and visibly distressed and frightened.

The accused, Mountassir, came to Ireland from the UK but had previously lived in Italy for 14 years.

The Sunday World reports the Moroccan has not yet indicated a plea and will be remanded in custody to appear again on December 15 for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions to be obtained.
