He’ll never call a girl a boy: Judge claims Enoch Burke is his ‘own worst enemy’

Two members of the Burke family have been removed from appeal proceedings again after the presiding judge was interrupted by police who told Enoch Burke he was his “own worst enemy” due to similar obstructions, reports Breaking News.

Burke is challenging a civil action brought by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC), which is seeking access to “ambient” audio recordings as part of an investigation into the conduct of Gardaí officers during the incident that led to the conviction of student lawyer Simeon Burke.

As part of the investigation, Gsoc has applied for “ambient recording”, which records what happens in the Supreme Court if the main digital audio recording (DAR) system used during court sessions is turned off.

However, the ambient recorder operates both before and after the DAR system is activated when the court is not in session, which raises the question for the Court of Appeal whether it had jurisdiction to hear the application at all, reports Breaking News.

Simeon Burke (24) was arrested on March 7 this year following a standoff while the Court of Appeal was ruling in the case of Simeon’s brother, Enoch Burke, who had challenged the legality of his dismissal from Wilson’s Hospital School.

After the riot, Simeon, Enoch and Ammi Burke filed complaints with the Gsoc, alleging ill-treatment by the police, reports Breaking News.
