It has long since been rumoured, but fans of The Matrix trilogy have been given the news they have been waiting for as a fourth movie is reportedly on the way.
In an announcement made this week, Warner Brothers Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich confirmed that a fourth installment of the hit franchise is being developed.
Although the film’s plot and full cast details are yet to be revealed, it is expected that Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss will reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity in the movie which will come 20 years after the original.
The film which will be written by Lána Wachowski has not yet been given an official release date, but unofficial reports in the US suggest that production could begin as early as next year.
The original trilogy which began in 1999 and ended in 2003 made more than $1.6bn dollars at the worldwide box office.
