The Taoiseach Micheal Martin addressed the nation last night announcing that the country is back in a full scale Level 5 lockdown.
The similar lockdown to March will also see schools closed until at least January 11th.
The full Level 5 lockdown will be re-imposed on the Irish people until at least January 31st.
Schools were initially to reopen on January 6th but will now remain closed until at least Jan 11th.
