The LÉ Róisín managed to carry out three separate operations in the Mediterranean yesterday resulting in the rescue of 347 people.
Some 668 migrants were saved from boats in distress in the Mediterranean off Libya through the course of yesterday’s activities.
The migrants were rescued by the Italian coast guard and navy ships while Irish and German vessels and humanitarian organisations managed to assist in the rescue.
The rescues are part of a multi-national patrol south of Sicily that has saved over 3,000 people last week alone.
The Defence Forces said Le Roisin has saved 123 migrants from a 12-metre-long dinghy and recovered a male body.
