Heroic French policeman who traded places with a hostage during Trebes supermarket siege sadly passes away

The French policeman who bravely traded places with a hostage during a siege at a supermarket in in the South Westetn town Trebes on Friday, has sadly died in hospital overnight.

In an announcement made in the past few hours, the French Interior Minister Gerrard Collomb sadly confirmed that the brave officer named Arnaud Beltrame died due to the extent of his injuries he received after being shot by the hostage taker.

Mr Baltrame’s tragic passing comes after a lone gunman named as Redouane Lakdim shot him during the siege which is now thought to be terrorist incident.

In a statement the French Interior Minister said France would never forget Mr Beltrame’s heroism, bravery and sacrifice.

Before adding that it is with a heavy heart that he offers the whole support France to Mr Beltrame’s family and companions.
