Many people on social media have praised a traveller man who has become one of the first travellers to graduate as a garda in Ireland.
People are saying that that the new garda is a good example to his community, especially those travellers that get caught up in criminality, such as thieving.
A member of the travelling community, Patrick Nevin has become one of the first members of the travelling community to become a member of An Gardai Siochana.
The Facebook page, Travellers of North Cork – TNC, announced the graduation on their Facebook page declaring it to be a great achievement for the travelling community.
Travellers have consistently said that they’ve been mistreated by gardai over the years and comments in the thread were supportive of the new garda.
