He’s back! Holohan said Covid is putting ‘increased pressure’ on hospitals

According to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan, covid has dramatically increased the burden of acute hospital care.

In a letter to Health Secretary Stephen Donnelly, he warned: “If the recent rising trend in hospitalised cases continues, we are likely to see increased pressure on the hospital system over the coming weeks.

“This will further reduce hospital capacity to admit patients for scheduled and unscheduled care.”

Donnelly, who received the letter on June 10, confirmed to RTÉ News yesterday that the rise in infections is putting pressure on the healthcare system.
