This past weekend the case of missing British youngster Madeleine McCann once again resurfaced in the media after a documentary programme was shown on Australian TV which claimed to have key evidence regarding the youngster’s disappearance almost ten years ago.

Madeleine who went missing in May 2007 whilst on holiday with her parents in Praia da Luz has never been found since, and now a former lead detective on the case has offered his opinion as to what happened to the infant on the night.

The man at the centre of the latest round of speculation regarding Madeline’s disappearance, former Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral, 56, has gone before the camera to give his views of the case and how her disappearance was covered up by none other the British Government.

Mr Amaral who was at the centre of libel case back in 2009 regarding his publication of book using police files to describe the case , has claimed that MI5 along with the assistance of then Prime Minister Gordon Brown were involved in the cover up over Madeline’s disappearance and her alleged death.

Mr Amaral claims the infant who was three at time of her disappearance was accidentally killed during the the family holiday, but rather than own up to their mistakes the McCann’s enlisted the help of the British Secret Service under the advisement of Prime Minister Gordon Brown to cover up her death.

The in depth documentary which was aired on Australia’s channel 7 network also revealed that a key witness who was in the region on the night in question is currently being sought by police to provide crucial information.

The show which has been reportedly criticised by Kate and Gerry McCann also aired the theory of leading forensic professor who claimed that Madeleine was killed by a motorist as she searched for her parents who were out dining at nearby restaurant at the time.

The crime expert claimed that the infants body was then hidden in one of 600 wells within the region in an attempt to hide the crime.

Producers of the programme also interviewed a former Scotland Yard detective Colin Sutton who offered his explanation regarding Madeleine’s disappearance.

The former detective said the only other logical explanation to explain Madeleine’s sudden disappearance is that she was abducted and smuggled to Mauritania, West Africa, before being sold a rich Middle Eastern family.

Detective Sutton claimed that particular scenario was plausible given it was a quick route especially if someone wanted a three year old child.
