A male hiker in his 50s was tragically killed while climbing the Carrauntoohil peak in Co. Kerry.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the scene but tragically were unable to revive the hiker who is believed to have died on impact.
The hiker was reportedly alone at the time of his death.
Gardai are treating the event as a tragic accident.
