Holohan: The country cannot cope with increased infection rate

The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that the country simply cannot cope with the current Covid-19 infection rate.

Speaking at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing, Dr Holohan said that he and fellow NPHET members have become concerned with the rise in cases in recent weeks.

He went on to say that the public should be minimising their social contacts and avoid crowded situations.

Holohan also said that there is hope with a vaccine in the coming months and we must protect our most vulnerable in the weeks and months to come in order for them to receive it.

He added If we continue to let cases rise the country will not be able to cope and further lives will be lost.
