There was some positive news for young cystic fibrosis patients on Wednesday as the developer of the reveloutionary new drug Orkambi, have revealed they it will be made available to younger patients later this year.
The drug which was introduced in Ireland earlier this year after a long battle between the drug supplier Vertex and the HSE will reportedly be made available to children as young as six.
In a statement made on Wednesday, Vertex said they were pleased they were given permission to provide the drug to younger patients.
It is understood young cystic fibrosis patients will be able to access the drug after the company held successful negotiations with the EU who officially granted them a licence.
