Hopes for a miniheatwave this weekend fade quickly, more settled weather predicted for the following week

There were reports up to yesterday evening that we might see some “summery” conditions later this week, but such forecast has now worsened.

A day after heavy rains and strong winds battered the country, it’s looking slightly better today. Tuesday will begin wet and windy, but the rain is expected to clear towards the afternoon, and it should remain largely dry for the rest of the week. Temperature wise, the thermometer will hover around mid teens today and tomorrow.

Thursday is currently looking like the best day of this week, with temperatures reaching 18-19C, and fairly calm conditions.

But high winds are expected to return on Friday, with a risk of thunderstorms.

More settled weather appears to be on the way next week, however, so all is not lost.
