Horrendous weather conditions appear set to remain for most of the weekend, but Met Eireann is forecasting a big change for the coming week.
Saturday and Sunday will see a mix of short bright periods, heavy showers, hailstones, and temperatures remaining mostly in single digits.
But according to the national forecaster, things will take a marked turn for the better come Monday as milder temperatures arrive. The start of next week is expected to see little rain, with temperatures soaring to about 14C.
The weather is expected to improve as the week goes on, with temperatures expected to top 16C on St. Patrick’s Day.
