Gardai are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) following the rape and false imprisonment of an 18-yr-old Spanish woman in Dublin over the weekend.
The student, who is currently studying in the captial, was tied up and raped near Pigeon House Road beside Sandymount Strand after she was lured there by a man she says she met on a night out on the town on Saturday night.
A 24-yr-old man was arrested in connection to the nightmare but has since been released without charge.
The young woman claims the man persuaded her to take the DART out to Sandymount where he then took her to a green area near the beach, tied her up and repeatedly raped her for hours.
The woman only managed to escape the horrific ordeal when the man fell asleep and she ran for help.
It’s understood that the man who was arrested is well known to the gardai and has previous convictions for violent offences.
