Horrific: Investigation underway after 3 year old is stabbed with a heroin syringe on a Dublin Bus

There is a major investigation underway today after a 3 year-old toddler was allegedly stabbed with a syringe filled with heroin by a fellow passenger whilst travelling on a Dublin Bus  yesterday afternoon.

The news comes as the company confirmed that they are currently in the process of examining footage CCTV footage after the child’s mother reported the incident to them yesterday afternoon. The woman named Stacie Zambra has since went on to tell her story to the Irish Mirror in which she said that she and her daughter were on the bus yesterday afternoon when the horrific incident happened. Mrs Zambra told the paper that she glanced back from the window and saw her daughter Alysha with blood pumping out of her finger and “the needle on the ground”.

The distraught mother then reported the incident to the driver who immediately stopped so that an ambulance could be called to attend to the infant, little Alysha was subsequently taken to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin where she underwent a number of tests. It is understood that Alysha’s family have an anxious wait as the test results could take a number of days to come back.

Meanwhile Dublin Bus have confirmed in brief a statement that “an incident occurred on Route 13 travelling inbound yesterday afternoon at approximately 14:00 involving a young passenger”.

The company say they are fully aware of the incident and are in the process reviewing footage to determine what happened, the company have said: “Dublin Bus has very strict protocols and procedures in place, when dealing with incidents such as this, which the driver followed.” “He immediately requested the emergency services, informed Dublin Bus control centre, the bus was taken out of service and returned to its depot to be examined and cleaned. Passengers were transferred onto another service.” “Dublin Bus also has strict maintenance and cleaning procedures in place internally. All protocols and procedures are regularly reviewed.”

The company added: “incidents of this nature are a rare occurrence and the overall level of anti-social behaviour is low and has decreased over the last number of years”.
