Gardai in Co Wicklow have begun an investigation after there were two sickening attacks on horses recently.
Gardai say the two separate incidents, have left a number of horses with severe wounds after they were attacked with what is believed to be an axe.
It is understood the first incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 16 July, when a horse was left with horrific injuries including a hole in its back. A few days later, another horse was viscously attacked in the same area in a similar fashion.
However thankfully the horses affected are expected to live but they are extremely traumatised by the attack.
Gardaí in Ashford believe the two attacks are related and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the two attacks and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 04 04 49220.
