A Polish couple, holidaying in Italy, were attacked on a popular Italian beach by a group of African migrants. Both were beaten and robbed, and horrifically, the 26-year-old woman was brutally raped multiple times in front of her badly beaten partner who sustained serious head injuries.
Tensions have run high in Italy over the past several months with African migrants streaming across the Mediterranean from war-torn Libya, aided by NGO’s and as some Italian politicians have claimed, by the various navies of EU members, including Ireland.
Rimini, where the attack took place has had similar crimes reported in the past. Many in the country have called for stricter controls on migration, in reaction to such incidents.
