Housing rights activist Ben Gilroy has announced he will be running in the upcoming general election on Saturday, February 8th in the Dublin Bay North constituency on behalf of the Irish Freedom Party.
The IFP, which was launched in 2018 and is led by Hermann Kelly, a former teacher and journalist who worked with MEP Nigel Farage as director of communications for the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy parliamentary group, will be fielding 10 candidates.
The Irish Freedom Party is described on its website as !a national movement of the Irish people which has as its primary objective the re-establishment of the national independence and sovereignty of Ireland and the restoration of national democracy to be achieved through leaving the European Union.!
Mr Gilroy has run a number of campaigns for election before and has strongly considered stepping back from politics following last year’s European elections.
