For 46 flats in Google’s Bolands Mills Quarter in Dublin, which are available at reduced rentals, more than 2,300 applications have been received, reports RTE.
The qualifying requirements have only been satisfied by 23% of the applicants.
The flats, which are for important employees including teachers, nurses, and gardaÃ, were unveiled last week, reports RTE.
Along with meeting qualifying requirements related to affordability, household size, and maximum income levels, applicants must also have ties to the community.
All qualified applications will be placed into a lottery, and the application procedure is available until March 5th, reports RTE.
The rentals for the units are up to 36% less than the going rate.
Ten three-bedroom apartments cost €1,850 per month, 35 two-bedroom flats cost €1,710 per month, and one enormous three-bedroom apartment costs €2,100 per month.
Following a competitive procurement procedure, Google chose Clúid, the non-profit housing organisation, to lease and operate all 46 flats in the complex, reports RTE.
In return for a tiny minimal fee, Google has leased the premises to Clúid for 25 years.
Clúid will keep the rentals in order to pay for the upkeep of the properties, reports RTE.
The residences are situated on Barrow Street in Dublin 4 in a newly built structure and a restored heritage property.
“There has been a phenomenal response to our discounted rent homes at Bolands Mills. If people are still interested in applying, we urge them to familiarise themselves with the eligibility criteria to ensure a smooth application process,” said Clúid Chief Commercial Officer Eibhlin O’Connor, reports RTE.
