In July last year a ghastly discovery was made when 44-year old Sanjeev Chada drove his two boys Eoghan (10) and (5) to Co Mayo where he strangled them to death and then attempted to commit suicide by crashing his car into a wall with a rope around his neck.
Yesterday Sanjeev was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Sanjeev pleaded guilty to murder in the Central Criminal Court on July 29th, 2013. He claimed that his act of murder was fueled by the growing gambling debts.
Mr Chada has been in the Central Mental Hospital in Dundrum where he remains on suicide watch.
He also explained that he carried out the act so his two sons wouldn’t go through “the pain of a broken marriage.”
Kathleen Chada took to the stands at Dublin’s Central Criminal Court and explained how Sanjeev had taking everything from her.
