Paul Reid, CEO of the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) is now a household name in Ireland Covid-19 hit Ireland.
This week, the response to a Freedom of Information request (FOI) revealed Mr Reid’s salary for his role in managing the 100,000 staff employed at the HSE.
The FOI reply showed Mr Reid was paid a basic salary of €370,136 and allowances of €49,966 in 2020.
A spokesperson from the HSE said that Mr. Reid ““is not a member of the HSE pension scheme and €49,966 is a payment in lieu of pension contribution” reports the Sun.
Mr Reid’s salary is more than double the amount paid to the second best paid non-medical staff member of the HSE.
There are currently 678 non-medical staff in the HSE paid over €100,000.
In his previous job with Fingal County Council, Mr Reid had an annual salary of just €165,320.
