The Chief Executive of the HSE Paul Reid has said that the country’s vaccination programme is progressing well as 2.7m doses have been administered to date.
Speaking to RTE’s This Week programme, Reid said at least 50% of the population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Reid told the programme that 20% of the population is fully vaccinated and the plan is to have half the population fully vaccinated by the end of July.
The HSE Chief’s comments come as a further 300,000 doses are expected to be administered this week.
