The Chief Executive of the HSE Paul Reid has urged people to keep their guard over Christmas especially when they are visiting family and friends.
Reid who warned of the risks of hugging said people should refrain from physical contact as it poses a real risk.
The HSE chief’s comments come as he said that the health service is concerned about intergenerational meetings.
Reid said that the public could be spared from further lockdowns in the new year if people take the necessary precautions this Christmas.
