HSE Chief says disruption to health service likely to last through the week

The HSE’s Chief Clinical Officer Dr Colm Henry has said that disruption within the health service is likely to last through the week.

Speaking to RTE’s This Week programme, Dr Henry said the disruption is likely to last well into the week as it is not yet known when IT systems will be restored.

Dr Henry said security experts are trying to determine if patient records have been encrypted.

He went on to say that the integrated system has been disconnected and for only certain databases are operating in isolation.

It is understood that a number of outpatient appointments have been cancelled as result of the attack which occurred on Friday.
