The HSE have issued a warning to the public as the H1N1 flu strain, commonly known as ‘swine flu’ has arrived in Ireland.
The public warning comes as at least four people have known to have died from the flu which can cause complications.
It is understood the HSE are encouraging people to get the flu vaccine especially those who are classed as at risk groups and pregnant women.
The health authority say the flu can effect anybody including young people and those who contract the virus are advised to stay in bed and rest.
They are also encouraged to contact their GP or doctor on call if they notice any worsening symptoms.
