HSE strongly advising high risk patients to get flu vaccine this winter

The HSE has echoed the recent call by pharmacist’s for people to get the flu vaccine this winter.

The health authority say they strongly advise those who have seriously health conditions, the elderly, health care workers and pregnant women to make sure they get their vaccine as the virus can be serious.

Meanwhile GP’s say that those at risk should be aware that the flu virus is harmful as it can cause severe illness, and sometimes death if it’s not treated properly.

The HSE also say the Vaccination is widely available from GPs and pharmacies throughout the country, and is free-of-charge to Medical Card holders.

The vaccination is also free to those without Medical Cards, although they are required to an administration charge.
