The HSE has urged parents nationwide to make sure their daughter’s receive the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine in order to prevent them from developing cervical cancer later in life.
The plea comes after latest statistics show that more than 90 Irish women will die from cervical cancer this year alone.
The HSE say the HPV vaccine is vital in preventing the illness and is recommending that all girls in first year of secondary school receive the vaccine.
