The Garda Press Office has confirmed that a senior civil servant has been suspended from his duties.
According to RTÉ News, the Head Executive of Human Resources John Barrett was suspended by the Minister for Justice Charlie Flanagan earlier today.
It is believed that the suspension was implemented on the recommendation of the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
In a brief statement the Garda Press Office said the suspension is an internal employment matter.
