Humphreys says Sinn Fein’s no confidence motion in ‘honourable’ Coveney is nothing but a publicity stunt

The Minister for Justice and Social Protection Heather Humphreys has said that Sinn Fein’s motion of no confidence in Simon Coveney is nothing but a publicity stunt.

Speaking to RTE, Humphreys said the motion which is due to be submitted this week is just a publicity stunt and she suggested that the party should be working with the Foreign Affairs Minister over issues in Northern Ireland.

Although Humphreys admitted the Government’s handling of the Katherine Zappone affair wasn’t great, she stated that there are more pressing issues at the moment.

Humphreys added that Simon Coveney is an honourable person who is well respected not only in Ireland but across Europe as well.
