The government’s open boarders policies is rapidly creating a new rough sleeper crisis in the country with 224 international protection applicants living without state provided accommodation or weekly social welfare payments RTE reported.

The figures were recorded last week and are expected to rise as State stopped offering accommodation to new asylum seekers arriving without children on January 24th.

The Department of Social Protection has confirmed to RTÉ News that these asylum seekers are also ineligible for the weekly allowance of €38.80 per week, paid to those in Direct Provision Accommodation.

These newly arrived young, single men have instead been given a once of €25 Dunnes Stores voucher and left to fend for themselves ont the streets.

With the number of non-Ukrainian asylum seekers arriving in Ireland still increasing, most of which are young, single men, the crisis is set to rapidly escalate.

This comes as many hotels terminate their contracts with the government to house Ukrainian refugees and other International Protection applicants and anti-plantation protests continue acorns the country.
